Once deployed, the EaPConnect network will provide high-capacity internet for research and education (R&E) communities across the Eastern Partnership countries. It will offer high-bandwidth, low-latency connections between participating national research and education networks (NRENs). With direct links to the pan-European GÉANT network, EaPConnect will allow users in the Eastern Partnership countries to collaborate with their counterparts at more than 10,000 research and education establishments in Europe.
Who is EaPConnect dedicated to?
EaPConnect will support data-intensive, time-critical applications between collaborating partners, but can equally be used to provide fast access to conventional web-based resources from all over the EU’s eastern neighbourhood and beyond. Examples of scientific areas where collaborative research will be facilitated are: environmental monitoring, telemedicine, life sciences and physics. But with more than two million potential users in the region, the network applications are almost limitless.
How to connect to EaPConnect
Any type of not-for-profit research and education activity can use the network. To benefit from the EaPConnect infrastructure, prospective users should contact their local NREN to participate in the project and be granted access as the network is being implemented.
