EaPEC 2016 – 1st Eastern Partnership E-infrastructure Conference

The 1st Eastern Partnership E-infrastructure Conference (EaPEC 2016) served as a platform for collaboration on policy and research and support community building in e-infrastructures between the Eastern Partnership region and the EU member states.
Organised by the EaPConnect project, EaPEC 2016 was hosted by GRENA, the Georgian Research and Education Network Association, in cooperation with the University of Georgia, on 6-7 October 2016.
This two-day conference focused on e-infrastructures for open science in Europe. Speakers led interactive discussions about open science and fostered the exchange of ideas in research areas such as physics and seismology, biomedical sciences, robotics, data analytics, climate and ecology.
EaPEC 2016 featured:
- keynote presentation from the Human Brain Project – presented cutting-edge, ICT-based scientific research infrastructure for brain research, cognitive neuroscience and brain-inspired computing. The Human Brain Project (HBP) is a European Commission Future and Emerging Technologies Flagship.
- Enlighten Your Research (EYR), the internationally renowned program to encourage collaboration between researchers using specialised IT and network services, had its award ceremony for its regional programme EYR@EAP.
EaPEC 2016 welcomed policy makers, researchers, students, and experts on networking and high performance computing for research and education from EaP countries and all over the world.
